2015 A Year in Review

There are times when we enter a new year, we should pause and just reflect on the prior year.   During 2015 I have been able to take many pictures of our ladies in Florida and Diane Clark was our photographer in the New Jersey’s chapter.  I love seeing the ladies smile and to know what the Bible says in Ecclesiastes 3:4… there is a time to laugh and a time to cry. And many times, I have found we did laugh so hard - that we did cry.  FNF is definitely a wonderful sisterhood.  Let’s just take a moment to read how Webster’s Dictionary defines this word “Sisterhood”.

Webster’s Dictionary says a sisterhood is:
1. a group of sisters, especially of nuns or of female members of a church.
2. an organization of women with a common interest, as for social, charitable, business, or political purposes.
3. congenial relationship or companionship among women; mutual female esteem, concern, support, etc.

I know, after you have read the above three definitions, and have looked at the following pictures, you will agree with me, these qualification do describe FNF’s as being a sisterhood.

May I also remind you, FNF started in 1988 with ten widows, myself included.  I was only 48 years old at that time, and there was only one very important question I needed to have answered, “When will the pain go away?” These ten widows and Pastor Bruce Sofia, helped me to know the answer to that question and the answer is “if you want to heal - serve the Lord”.   And this is exactly what FNF has been doing for over 28 years.

These ladies are from our Turnersville, NJ chapter.

These ladies are from Boynton Beach Florida chapter

Since 1995 both chapters of FNF (Turnersville, NJ and Boynton Beach, Fl.) has served in our Teddy Bear Ministry.   We purchase Teddy Bears and put a little sign around their neck saying “Smile God loves you”.  We then deliver the teddy bears to different widows in the hospital or home sick.

Over the years we have delivered hundreds and hundreds of these lovable bears. I have a true story to relate to you….we gave a bear to an elderly lady in the hospital and she just loved it dearly. The bear gave her a lot of comfort.  When the Lord took this widow home, the family of the widow had the teddy bear placed in the casket alongside of the widow. Each one of the children wanted this teddy bear as a remembrance to their mother. But they all decided to place the bear with the mother.   Honestly, this is a true story.  This little teddy bear brought great comfort to everyone.

Once a year the N.J. chapter organizes a “Baby Showers”. The baby clothes are then given to an organization called “Choices of the Heart”. This organizations gives these baby clothes to the young women that have decided to keep their babies instead of aborting the child.

One of our greatest service both of our FNF chapters supports is our widows in India under the direction of Pastor Saha Simons. You can find out all about this special ministry of 14 widows on their blog:   www.kerusomenministries.org

The ladies that are holding up the purple teddy bears are some of the widows we support monthly.  This past Christmas, we had a private donation given to our organization and we gave the widows of the Kerusome Ministry a wonderful Christmas Party.

I truly believe after reviewing the above,  FNF has met all three of the definition of the meaning of “Sisterhood”

Once again Webster’s Dictionary says a sisterhood is:

1. a group of sisters, especially of nuns or of female members of a church.
2. an organization of women with a common interest, as for social, charitable, business, or political purposes.
3. congenial relationship or companionship among women; mutual female esteem, concern, support, etc.

Eccleseastes 3:4 talks about a time for everything. We have all worked all throughout the year of 2015 very hard serving the Lord, and we have studied each month about the widows in the Bible.  But I love the part in the Bible when God’s says – “a time to laugh” and there is also a time to celebrate.  We have learned to pick a theme and “party-hardy”.  When we come into the meetings, we leave our negative luggage at the door and let the party begin.

I have put together some pictures of the different themes.

Both Chapters celebrate different fun holiday as St Patrick’s Day. We wear the funny hats, and sing the different Irish songs.
We may all be from many nationalities but during the meetings we know all the words to the different melodies.

Easter Parade is celebrated by both chapters

The Easter bunny brings the extra candies for everyone.

Christmas is such a wonderful time of the year. Celebrating the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ. We all love singing the carols, exchange gifts and great big holiday hugs.  The food is also very good.

This picture is of Mary Lou our director of the Turnersville, N.J. chapter. Mary Lou is on the left and in the center is my friend Eileen. Eileen has been with FNF over 25 years serving the Lord and the many widows throughout the years. The lady on the left is a first time visitor to the program.

Opps! We mus not forget the celebration of Mardi Gras.  Lots of fun songs were sung that day. We only wore the masks for pictures, I was afraid maybe one of the ladies would fall.  Fun time!

  Lord Jesus,

We present to you 2015. What an honor it was to serve you throughout that year. But now it is 2016! Please walk with us, give us all the strength and courage to continue this ministry to your honor and to your glory.
