A tip for dealing with grief

Good morning dear Ladies,

I hope your day is a good one today.

I have some grief tips to share sent to me by Dotti.  These are good and will help us all as we live and grow through our grief. I will share them one or two at a time. Today’s tip is about being thankful.

******

Ways to have a good mourning and, in the process, help you heal the wound of grief.

1. Cultivate the attitude of gratitude.

No matter what has happened to you, there are still many things for which you can be thankful.  Give thanks every day.

Identify areas of your life that are still good and enriching, such as friends, family, meaningful employment, health, warm memories, etc.

Cultivating the attitude of gratitude is a way of viewing your cup as half full, rather than half empty.

***

Take the sweet gratitude journal that we were given and write at least one thing each day that you are thankful for. It can be that you got out of bed this morning, the sweet songs of the birds, seeing a butterfly, enjoying a good meal, the love of friends and family, FNF. There has to be something in your life that you are thankful for, write it down, seeing it will bless your heart.

~ Remember ~

And everything, whatever you do in word or deed,

do all in the name of the Lord Jesus,

giving thanks to God and the Father by Him.

Col_3:17

Let the peoples give thanks to You, O God;

let all the peoples praise You.

Psa_67:5

Praise ye the LORD.

O give thanks unto the LORD;

for he is good:

for his mercy endureth for ever.

Psa_106:1

Finally, brethren/sisters,

whatsoever things are true,

whatsoever things are honest,

whatsoever things are just,

whatsoever things are pure,

whatsoever things are lovely,

whatsoever things are of good report;

if there be any virtue,

and if there be any praise,

think on these things.

Php_4:8

Love and hugs to all of you,

Rainey

What a wonderful meeting we had today!

Hello dear Ladies ~ It was so good to see all of you today.  I looked forward to this meeting and came away feeling blessed, encouraged, loved, ready to live another day in God’s tender loving care.

We are so blessed to have this group. God is using Dotti’s vision and ministry to touch hearts.

Our special speaker today was Kathy Caprio. She spoke on how we are valuable and women of worth, because of God’s love for us.

She gave 4 main points:

1. We were created in God’s own image. Genesis 1:27 & 31

2. He knew us before we were born and every day of our life is recorded in his book. Psalms 139:13, 14, 16

3. God loved each and every one of us so much that He gave his only Son, so that anyone who believes in him will not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16.

4. He adopted us into His own family through Jesus Christ and it gave Him great pleasure to do this. Ephesians 1:5

She then handed out little teddy bears as an example of God’s love to us,  all we have to do is just receive, that’s it. Through God’s love we are made worthy, through Him we have value.

With each teddy bear came a heartfelt hug from her and she received the same from each of us.  It was a very moving talk today, touching hearts. I was truly blessed.

To end this post, I thought I would share with you the bouquet I won as one of the winners in the raffle today. I recut the stems when I got home and put the bouquet in an old green glass vase I’ve had for many, many years.  (My online name is ‘FlowerLady’, thought of for me by my dear husband, because of my love for flowers.)

And, here’s where my little pink bear from Kathy ended up. You can also see my golden bear from FNF that I received a few months ago as a ‘comfort bear’ since I had recently lost my dear husband of 43 years.

The bears we received today are also reminders to pray for those who have survived breast cancer and for those who have it and are being treated.

Let us ‘give thanks’ each and every day for our many blessings.

Dear Jesus ~ I want to say thank you right now for the lovely meeting we had today. May we all grow in your love and grace.  May we feel your strength when we are weak, and may we always feel your love and peace flowing through and surrounding us at all times.

Thank you and Amen.

“Hope, Strength and Courage”

On Monday, August 19th, 2013, FNF will be supporting a special event to support Breast Cancer Awareness.

Different supplies have been ordered to help remind us how important it is to continue to pray for “Hope, Strength and Courage” to the ladies who are fighting this battle.

Plan to come to this special meeting and bring another widow. Remember we can do everything through Christ who gives us strength. (Philippians 4:13)

Our guest speaker for our exciting August 19th meeting will be Kathy Caprio.
