Pray for dear Dotti

Good morning dear Ladies ~ I just wanted to take a minute to ask you all to pray for our Dotti as she has surgery on Wednesday morning and will be in the hospital 2-3 days afterwards.

***

Dear Jesus ~ Fill Dotti with peace and strength these days before surgery.

May she continually feel your healing love flowing through and surrounding her at all times.

Be with all of the hospital staff as they take care of Dotti, bless the surgeon’s hands.

May all go well and may Dotti’s recovery be swift and complete.

Your will will be done.

In your name Jesus we pray ~ Amen.

A Prayer for Widows

We have started a new and lovely thing with FNF and that is praying for each of the widows on their given day for whichever month we happen to be in.  It is a wonderful and uplifting thing to do. I am working on getting pictures of each lady to print us all out on a page, so that each month we can ‘see’ who we are praying for, as it’s nice to put a face with a name.  I am still learning who is who and I’m sure there are others out there who would love to ‘see’ who we are praying for.
Prayer works miracles, it encourages, it uplifts.
Since becoming a widow nine months ago, I’ve done a lot of reading of the Bible, searching online and reading there, bits and pieces for widows, I’ve found blogs for widows, and read quite a few books too.
One blog I found has been a source of comfort to me and Ferree Hardy the author of that blog  wrote this prayer below for widows.
May you be blessed as you read it and may you all continue to feel God’s love and tender mercies surrounding and flowing through you each and every day.

A Prayer for All Widows by Ferree Hardy
Dear God,
When I bring widows to you in prayer, I know that you hold them close to your heart and are intimately acquainted with all their ways. Would you please help them to know and experience that truth, too? Help each widow to know that you have numbered her days. Death comes as no surprise to you. You knew she would be widowed---and you also know this is not the end of her story. Help her to see that too.
Fill her with hope and help her look forward to the day when she will once again see the good work you began in her. Help her believe that you will faithfully complete her and the work you are doing in her life. It's not over yet.
I pray that her love will rise from the ashes of loss and begin to abound more and more in knowledge, spiritual depth and insight. That she'll be able to discern what is best. In the midst of this sad and confusing time keep her pure and blameless. Fill her with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ her Lord and Savior. May she grow in you to the glory and praise of God. May she truly live with passion and purpose, showing the world that to live is Christ and to die is gain.
Show her your kindness and rest, Lord. Open fields of opportunity for her. Surprise her with your joy, peace, mercy, generous provision and lavish grace.
May she stand on tiptoe to watch for your work in her life and eagerly look forward to the day of your return. Come quickly, Lord Jesus!
In Your name, for Your sake, and by Your Word,
Amen

Dear Jesus,
Bless our sisterhood of widows here in FNF.
May they each feel your love, peace, and strength in each new day that they are blessed with.
Meet their needs whatever they are.
Bless their hearts.
In your name Jesus,
Amen.

Yesterday’s meeting

In spite of having had rain, with more predicted, we still had a good turn out for our meeting/luncheon.

We met in the larger, brighter space and it was really nice to be able to move around and to be able to see outdoors too.  During the luncheon, we watched as the skies went from sunny to stormy quickly, which is what can happen here in s.e. FL. (It is raining now as I write this at 7:10 a.m. Tues. morning.)

Thank you all who brought the exact change with you to pay for your luncheon.  It makes the check in time go much faster and smoother.

Now here are photos of our meeting.

I am still learning names to go with faces so bear with me until I get them all sorted out to be able to post who is who. Smile

Excitement is growing

Yes, we of Friends Needing Friends are excited.  We are moving into a larger space at the country club. We will have more room to move around, and more room to grow and expand.  God is blessing this group and we are thankful.

To have a place where widows can meet and get to know each other, and fellowship together is fantastic. Everyone of us is on the same road, just at different mile markers. We all have our up days, down days, and days that are in between. We grow in God’s grace as we call on him, and lean on him for direction and meeting our needs.

FNF is a place of joy, learning, encouragement, inspiration. It’s a place where hugs are given and received. We sing songs in praise to Jesus.  We pray for each other, comfort one another and give a helping hand when we can.

Jesus knows exactly what we widows are going through. He has brought us to this place, widowhood, a place where we learn more of him and learn to love him more, so that we will be a light to others and bring him honor and glory.  May we all grow in His love, peace and strength.

Blessed be God,
even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the Father of mercies,
and the God of all comfort;

Who comforteth us in all our tribulation,
that we may be able to
comfort them which are in any trouble,
by the comfort wherewith we ourselves
are comforted of God.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4

So, mark your calendars Ladies, for next Monday, 16 September, 10:00 a.m. Although, please come 15 minutes or so early so that everyone can check in and get seated so that our meeting will start on time.  Please and thank you also for bringing the exact change for the luncheon, $12.50, it makes it much easier and faster when you check in.

We look forward to seeing all of you again, and to meeting new ladies and welcoming them into our unique sisterhood.

Remember

smile

Here’s the story to the photo above. On the morning of 3 June 2001, I was out puttering in my garden. I looked up and saw a ‘sky-writer’ writing in the sky to the south of us. I ran in for my camera and started taking photos after he completed the smiley face, and each of the words.  Then I put them all together in an art program. Seeing that written in God’s big beautiful sky made me feel so loved, and blessed and thankful and I most certainly had a smile on my face.

See you Monday, God willing ~ Rainey

Meet ~ Sally

Birthday 03-31-23

I was 18 and Joe was 19, and we wanted to be together forever.

So, on June 7th 1941 we ran off and got married. They said it would not last, LOL. We were married for 64 years and 28 days when he went to live with the Lord.

He said, "Sally, I have lived a long life. I saw all of our children married and grandchildren, I have been blessed, over and over."

We had 5 children, 14 grandchildren and 36 greats and one great-great. We had a wonderful life and I thank God for all the blessings.

Joe was my love of my life, my best friend.

It was hard when he left, it has been 8 years now, but we all must go on. That's where Friends Needing Friends comes to help widows with a loving hand. I meet with Friends Needing Friends and what a blessing to help everyone.
